Work (2)
- - Hello, dear learners of English! Hello, Pauly!
- - Hello, everyone!
- - Welcome back to our fantastic English lessons! I’ve just returned from the Canary Islands.
- - Really? How lovely! Did you like your trip?
- - Yeah, it’s like Paradise.
- - Paradise? What do you mean?
paradise (rojus) is a place or situation that extremely pleasant(nepaprastai malonu), beautiful or enjoyable. Paradise is known as heaven (dangus), where God lives and where there is no illness (ligos), death or evil (blogis).
- - What are we going to study today?
- - Today we are going to study about job interview (darbo pokalbis). You will be able to ask and answer questions at a job interview. You will be able to show interest (susidomejimas).
- - Wonderful! My girlfriend is going for an interview tomorrow.
- - Great. Which job did she apply for?
- - Oh, she applied for a general manager (vyriausias vadovas/vadybininkas) in one of the Health and Leisure "Nice Body" clubs.
- - What advice (patarimas) would you give her?
- - I don’t know. Can you help me?
- - Yes, of course! I think there are several things for success. First of all, interviewees should follow a dress code.
- - Interviewees? A dress code?
interviewee (kandidatas (į darbą, vietą)) is the person who answers the questions in an interview.
- - And how to call a person who asks the questions in an interview?
interviewer (žmogus, imantis interviu) is the person who asks the questions in an interview. A dress code is a standard of what you should wear for a particular situation.
- - So what about a dress code (aprangos kodas)?
- - The best candidate is the one who wears a smart suit.
- - What do you mean?
A smart suit (puošnus, dailus, ne kasdieniskostiumas/kostiumėlis) means well-dressed. The best candidate should wear neat (švarus, tvarkingas) attractive (patrauklus) clothes and have a generally tidy appearance. We say a smart suit or an excellent set of clothes (drabužių komplektas) made of the same material(medžiaga) usually including a jacket(švarkas) with trousers (kelnės) or a skirt(sijonas).
